Wacky Wine Weekend

Date May 29, 2007

It’s the Wacky Wine Weekend this weekend ( 1-3 June, 2007) and it promises to be a cracker of an event.

Wacky Wine Weekend

There really isn’t any excuse for any wine lover (and indeed non-lover) not to attend this zany weekend of fun and entertainment.

There really does seem to be something for everyone - wine tasting and tours, camping, tractor rides, rugby, live music and plenty of food bits!

I hear that there is a vat full of wine that you can dive into and try your hardest to retrieve gemstones from the bottom of - tell you what, my leopard print speedo is already packed!

See you all there - will feedback next week!

    I can think of a good excuse….

im guessing the excuse is that it would take an international flight to get here!

I went last year and had a ball - and am disappointed that I have an “official engagement” hosting a wine tasting in the ‘Berg that precludes me from attending again.
Wederom’s Italian evening with the folk from La Masseria was tops, along with visits to cellars. Lost a few hours at Van Loveren eating their sweetcorn fritters and drinking rose, got completely Shanghaied at Springfield - and found myself in a Cessna flying over McGregor at sunset as a result…
But some quick recommendations: Take the road less travelled to places like Arendsig (cracking Shiraz and Chardonnay’s not too shabby either), Wolvendrift (sure to be a braai going there…), Kranskop (over on the Klaas Voogds side of Robertson), Majors Hill, Koningsrivier and … OK, let me stop there or I’ll get carried away. Point is, try the smaller, less well-known places. I’m sure you’ll make some great discoveries.
    Cheers
    Fiona
    Point is, try some
