Lovely Lismore Chardonnay 2006

Date October 30, 2007

Blake, a good friend of mine, came over for dinner the other night armed with a really special bottle of wine he had picked up at Lisa’s Little Wine Shop in Kalk Bay.

Lismore Chardonnay 2006

This wine had a sublime mix of the following interesting flavours - lemon meringue pie, toasted almonds and maple syrup. The flavours seemed clean and marvelously married together. A fresh wine with a sultry mouth feel and lingering finish.

I think this passage taken from the estates blog says a lot about the character of their wine:

Familia.Terroir.Alma.Vigne. These four words personify our ideas about wine and South Africa. We live outside of a small village, Greyton, on the Southern Tip of South Africa. We smell the sea with west and southern winds. In winter the snow kisses our vines that sit at 300 meters. This farm is our bountiful garden. With sunshine captured in every bottle and aged long enough that you don’t have to… With love, Jake, Samantha, Keenan & Quinn.

One of only 900 bottles available - so I suggest you try and get your hands on one or two before they are all gone!

Thanks again to Blake for introducing me to this great wine and a lovely little estate.

Sounds like a very delicious bottle of wine, although I am a red wine drinker, I’d be inclined to get a bottle just by your review.

Wow, Cru Master! You might lead the ABC’s of this industry to change their minds… any idea on the price? If there are (or shall we say were) only 900 bottles, there might be quite a demand for it by now?

    Thanks for a great review!

    Hi Liberty

    Thanks for your kind words!

Im not sure how many are left or where else one can get the wine - I’ll find out.

I think the wine goes for R130 - well worth it!

As Blake said on the night - he doesnt usually like chardonnay - but this one was different and changed his mind somewhat!

    Hi Cru Master
Thanks for the mention of my wine shop. Yip, the wine sells for R130 and worth every drop. I have stock if anyone would like to give it a try.
