Belfield: a cool 4.5 Stars thank you very much!
November 20, 2007

“We are very excited at being awarded 4.5 stars in the 2008 John Platter wine guide for our 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon maiden vintage. We are somewhat overwhelmed by this wonderful news! “
Well I spoke about Belfield here - and I wasn’t shy to indicate how excited I was about the forthcoming wines after tasting a bottled sample of their Cab Sav 2006.
Well the proof is in now in the pudding and I tell you this wine farm is going to rock. With the personal touch of Mike Kreft at the helm and its ideal location in the cool Elgin valley - the future is bright indeed.
Here below is an excerpt from the farms first newsletter:
“For 2006 we have a Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon blend, and our Cabernet Sauvignon reserve. The latter has been named Magnifica after the Protea Magnifica or Queen Protea. We farm these magnificent flowers on the Porterville Mountain in the Cedarberg range. This protea is elegant and grows in limited numbers in the wild. It seemed to us to be the ideal name for our reserve as we hope to embody the natural beauty of this flora in the Magnifica release.”
