i want to ask you steve… what was it you liked about the Diemersfontein?
I also like it but whenever i drink it I have to remind myself that it doesnt really represent the true essence of the grape..(i mean would you ever say its a pinotage in a blind-tasting?!) and i think that is why its sometimes called a psydo-wine by some people.. layered with mocha, choc etc et. I work in a boutique wine shop and let me tell you that Diemersfontein Pinotage is a Huge favourite! it definately draws the crowds:) My best eg. of pinotage in SA would probably be either Kanonkop or Grangehurst.. and then i’m a sucker for the nice purple label of Thelema..which also can stand up for itself..
