Is this the Jamie Oliver of the wine world?

Well I’m not sure because I’ve never heard of Matt Skinner before but that’s what they’re labelling him.
He also has a new book called Heard It Through The Grapevine which aims to answer the 100 most commonly asked questions about wine - interesting.
For this quote alone, I’m willing to give it a chance:
“You don’t need a rulebook for this – just a healthy appetite and an open mind. Take some risks: drink great champagne with fish and chips on the beach, or cheap red with expensive meat. Learn from others: befriend a sommelier; read a little; or, better still, hunt down the person who made the wine and ask them what they would eat with it. And think a little too – who knows, you might just surprise yourself,” he told The Guardian.
Skinner is the sommelier of Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen restaurant, and potentially the world’s first ever super-sommelier – with a mission.
I like that he is out to debunk some of the ‘myths and cobwebs’ of wine - the more approachable we all make it the better.
His look is young and appealing so perhaps that will break down some of the generational boundaries and make wine ‘hip’ amongst a younger generation.
In this video below he talks about his new book:
Found the book on Kalahari.net which is a miracle and its not bad - R255 - click here.

Yip, he’s been around for a while here in the U.K. I have his 2007 fav selection booket - it does lean toward the Auzzie wines (not one SA wine featured) but hey…it’s not his fault, the poor guy’s Australian. Only kidding - I enjoyed the Tim Adams Shiraz alot like.
