Dombeya Chardonnay 2006

Date September 30, 2008

I cracked this bottle of vino open the other evening to enjoy with a bowl of chicken pesto pasta - which has become a stock standard dish of mine.

Had no expectation for this and was pleasantly surprised - it’s one of the nicest chardonnays I’ve had in a while.

Dombeya Chardonnay 2006

Fresh, lively nose with a hint of buttered toast. Light lemon colour with a brush of green. It’s very fruity and subtly wooded which is a refreshing change. Perfect acidity that cleanses your palate and a finish that is full of citrus fruit.

I think the word that best describes this wine is “Vibrant” - it’s lively, refreshing and perfect for a summer’s day dabble.

I think more producers should take note and make more chardonnay like this.

By the way, you might like to know that this also made the Tri Nations team for SA last year. Must send you the 2007 version for a try. All the best.
