Platter 2009 : Belfield continues to rake in the stars.

Date November 18, 2008

Belfield has confirmed it’s initial emergence on the South African wine market with another flurry of ’stars’ in Platter 2009.

Belfield Magnifica Cabernet Sauvignon 2006  - 4.5 stars

Belfield Elgin Blend 2006 - 4 stars

The Kreft family’s maiden vintage: Belfield Cabernet Sauvignon received  4.5 stars in the 2008 edition of Platters.

So the above ratings for the 2009 edition confirm that this little gem of a boutique winery isn’t just a one hit wonder but a serious new contender and one to watch.

With blocks of ‘cool climate’ Cab Franc and Shiraz set to enter the fray this year, I am willing to bet that a heralded 5 stars will be achieved in the near future as Mike Kreft hones his skills in the cellar.

With the Maginfica 2006 and the Elgin Blend 2006 retailing at R85 and R55 respectively - these have to be some of the best value wines in South Africa.

So if you’re interested in getting a bottle or two -give Mike Kreft a shout : mike@belfield.co.za

(I think Vino Pronto in Cape Town also stocks the Magnifica - I’m sure I’ve seen it there)

The blend was just sent out in our November ensembles. Although I am slightly biased! Well done dad :-)

The Magnifica is also listed at the Roundhouse restaurant in Camps Bay. Good with the duck!
