Who do you call when you have a leaking tap?
June 3, 2009
In the middle of last night I was woken up by a rather ominous sounding drip in the kitchen.
I stumbled down the stairs, flicked the light switch on and discovered water all over the wooden kitchen counter and a mini amazon river on the kitchen floor.
The tap above the kitchen sink was leaking.
Five, dripping towels later and the mess was under control - but the leak continued.
So I created an elaborate water channeling system with various utensils in the kitchen and went back to sleep with a smirk on my face - I could easily give Macgyver a run for his money.
Problem solved - for now.
Woke up for work in the morning only to find water all over the floor again - rather deflated, I put in a call to my trusty friend:
John the Plumber
He came over within an hour and fixed the problem - which apparently I could have fixed myself but we’ll ignore that part.
The whole event got me thinking - if I didn’t have a good friend who happened to be a plumber - who would I call in an emergency?
So if you’re looking for a great plumber then look no further than my good friend John - he runs a brilliant, reliable and trustworthy plumbing operation.
Here are his details if you ever need them:
John the Plumber
tel: 072 287 1833
You will need them when the day comes - believe me!

Don’t you have an overflow outlet in your sink?

no overflow outlet on this sink. but the leak was falling on the counter and not into the sink - at the joint where the tap is mounted into the wall.

You need some man tools Cuz…and a toolbox.
It was some time ago when Mandy asked me to fix something in the house, I could not. She looked dissappinted. I felt ashamed. She proceeded to produce a small padded girly toolbox from the cupboard and fixed it herself. Never again.
As a testiment to my improvement, last weekend I fitted a new carpet section at the front door (not as easy as it sounds). A traced template was required as the shape was asymetrical and could only be cut from the back. I also fitted a Fiamma C strip to the camper-van using a sealent/adhesive and self tapping screws. Snif. I do blame my father.
