Wine X 2009 : Report Card
September 10, 2009
Last nights Wine X 2009 at the Cape Town Convention Centre was a real blast - thoroughly entertaining and fun.
Some observations:
- there were notably less estates attending - which actually wasn’t a bad thing
- the show was a little more dynamic this year with more features and fun stands (under the influence E2)
- the quality of wine on offer was higher on average
- olive oil almost stole the show (for me)
My picks from the show were as follows:
Wine of the Evening
Lismore Estate Vineyards Voignier 2008
Quite simply a stunning wine - beautifully balanced acidity that cuts curiously through a rich mouthfeel and a fragrant nose.
Red Wine of the Evening
Diemersdal Private Collection 2006
A joy to drink - subtle, soft and sensuous.
Bubbles of the Evening
Light, dry and too easy to drink!
Dessert Wine of the Evening
Nederburg Winemaster’s Reserve Noble Late Harvest 2008
Like drinking liquid honey/gold.
Olive Oil of the Evening
Tokara The Olive Shed Leccino 2008
Nutty, herbaceous and addictive.
If you went to the show, what were your highlights?

Unfortunately I could only stay for 2 hours on the opening evening. Lots of good wine.
I think for the next couple of weeks I will be a San Giovese lover. Idiom and Antonij Rupert.
Some people at the show must have earned atronomical amounts of money for the evening. I wouldn’t be caught dead in their costumes!!!!
And Noble Hill’s Twitter stand was quite entertaining. More so than their wines………

Thanks for the kind words. Not sure what’s going on with the people telling you to stay away from informational niches, ALL my niches are information based. I have no product based sites that I’m earning with. Maybe these people were never earning and might not have things set up right? Not sure what to think of that kind of logic. If it has a high CPC and high volume of traffic with a lot of ads I can’t imagine you won’t earn. Maybe stay away from gambling and other niches that might eventually be banned/go down the tubes
I hope that helps…
ts my first ever visit on this site……good information being shared here..
thanks once again.
