Whisky Live Festival in Cape Town
November 3, 2009

The FNB Whisky Live Festival kicks off tomorrow evening in Cape Town at the Convention Centre and runs from 4 - 6 November 2009.
I can’t bloody wait to get my grubby hands on a couple of wee drams.
Myself and Bar Rat will be attending the grand opening and will most likely still be in the cigar lounge when they call last rounds at 10pm.
See you there -get tickets here.
I’m looking forward to tasting my favourites from last years show (read my full review from last year):
The Glenlivet 12yr Old - perhaps my favourite of the show - rich, smooth and elegant. Nutty, honeyed and floral.
Bushmills 1608 - noticeably lighter in flavour than the scotch malts - subtle vanilla and toffee.
Laphroaig 10 yr Old- this classic peaty whisky never disappoints, seaside notes abound - a firm favourite of mine.
Glenfiddich 18 yr Old - rich, complex and mellow drinking - some mulled spice notes.
Dalwhinnie 15yr old - multifaceted: bit of spice, bit of peat, bit of honey, bit of smoke - altogether a very rich whisky.
Lagavulin 16yr Old - it’s like drinking a good cigar!
Talisker 10yr Old - peaty with intense notes of honey and spice.
My mouth is watering already.
