Rumpsteak: in an arty kind of way!

Last week Lovely Lis and I went to watch Gaëtan Schmid perform his brilliant one man play Rumsteak at the Little/Intimate Theatre in Cape Town.

The show is a visual and aural behind the scenes take on a busy French kitchen experiencing ‘rush hour’! The sound effects and visual timing of Schmid are just mind blowing.

The whole play is performed in French which helps draw attention to his actions and the accompanying sounds - both of which paint a perfect picture of what one imagines a busy night in a kitchen is like.

One of my favourite parts of the show was Schmidt doing a run through of the common names of dishes on a French menu - now I wont make the mistake of ordering frogs legs when hoping for sheep brains!

It’s a great night out and afterwards you can go enjoy a glass of vino or a meal at Societi Bistro with your friends.

A Societi Bistro R300 voucher is to be won every night of the performance.

Societi Bistro is the fabulous restaurant opposite the road in Orange Street. You have to try their signature dish: the Fillet au poivre … or the prawns … or the mushroom risotto …

Audience members that come and enjoy Rumpsteak will receive a 15% discount on their Societi Bistro restaurant bill on presentation of their Rumpsteak at restaurant reception.

Those theatre goers who enjoy their meal before their theatre will get a discount on Rumpsteak tickets on presentation of their Societi Bistro bill at the Front of House of The Intimate Theatre.

Specials for audiences include Wednesday 12th of May, where all tickets are just R40. Unfortunately on this night, the Societi Bistro discount doesn’t apply.  Also, Thursday 13th, Tuesdays 18th and 25thof May are all 2 for the price of 1 performances! And if that doesn’t whet your appetite enough, the Societi Bistro discount does apply on these nights.
